AUDITIONS 2024-25

Auditions for Philharmonic and Symphony orchestras (and registration for returning members) are open now! We can't wait to meet you and help you find your place in NVYO. To learn more about each orchestra, visit nvyo.org/philharmonic OR nvyo.org/symphony

Steps to audition:

1. Register on ACTIVE.com : as soon as you know you want to audition, please register! Let us know which date and time range you prefer (for audition in person, when available), or if you will send a video audition.

2. Choose the orchestra audition materials that align with your playing level, and prepare! (Note that placement will be up to the conductors, regardless of which audition level you prepare.) At your audition you will be asked to play:
scales, a solo or exercise that best demonstrates your playing level and ability, and an exercise or two provided by NVYO we ask you to prepare. These are all explained on the posted audition materials. SEE BELOW. Students who have been accepted to auditioned honor groups or All State ensembles MAY be contacted and offered a reduced audition requirement.

3. Audition! You can record your audition, and submit the videos by unlisted YouTube link, google drive share, or uploading (email info@novyo.org to request upload link). We will also listen to in-person auditions at Dal Segno camp in August. You can also ask your teacher to help arrange an in-person / recorded audition at a Grand Forks school or studio lesson.

4. You will be contacted with the results of your audition and more information about how to register for NVYO.
