Overview

Students in grades 5-10 learn to work cooperatively through chamber music concepts.

Dal Segno is a musical term that means “the sign” and indicates a return to an earlier place in the music. It’s pronounced Dahl SAYN-yo.

Dal Segno 2024 is accepting string musicians for Intermediate camp; and string,  woodwind, brass, AND PERCUSSION students for Advanced camp!  (If enrollment or coaching availability is insufficient to include certain instruments, those students would receive a refund.) If you are interested and play an orchestra instrument not listed, please message us. Strings and winds have been the usual  - but if there is enough interest we are hoping to add brass and percussion this summer.

Dal Segno (pronounced “Dahl SAYN-yo) is a day music camp run by Northern Valley Youth Orchestras.  Students learn to work cooperatively with others at their playing level through chamber ensemble coaching and rehearsals that focus on improving rehearsal techniques, discovering new musical concepts, and developing a team approach to ensemble playing. It’s challenging, but a lot of fun! Camp days also include time for social activities and teamwork skill building. We say Dal Segno is “serious fun.”  Students experience both chamber music (small ensemble) and orchestra playing at camp. Students must be available for the entire week, and able to participate in the concert Friday over the noon hour. There is an optional extra performance Saturday morning at the farmer's market.
Each session will be limited to 20 campers.
Our 2024 location will be the Grand Forks County Historical Society/Myra Museum, at 2405 Belmont Road.

Students new to NVYO programs may be asked to play a short, informal audition for placement purposes, after registration is received.
